History

Totley has a long, historic past and was mentioned in the Domesday Book of 1086. Two notable buildings of Totley are Cannon Hall and Totley Hall, both of which still remain and date back to the 16th and 17th centuries. For over 100 years, the Totley Tunnel (constructed in 1888-1894) served as the longest underground main rail line in the UK. Still in use today, the Hope Valley line runs through the tunnel on a route between Sheffield and Manchester.

Dine, Drink & Shop

Amenities are scattered along Baslow Road, which runs out into the Peak District, and comprises several convenience stores, a pharmacy, independent shops, cafes and a lovely farm shop where local produce can be purchased. Within the area are three public houses, all serving food and a charming ‘country inn’ atmosphere for socialising with family and friends.
